Relationship dynamics within a team are key to success but are often ignored as people can be uncomfortable talking openly about them. If we focus on our human connection as peers, we can enhance our working relationship thus delivering better outcomes for our team, the organisation and ourselves.

Explore the following questions to have an authentic conversation to improve our connection:

  • Do we focus on face to face communication where possible?
  • Do we share our background, family, experience and special interests to lead to a greater understanding of each other?
  • Have we built a good level of trust and alignment?
  • Do we potentially have unspoken issues between us that we need to share?
  • Can we give and receive (sometimes challenging) feedback from each other?
  • Can we engage in healthy conflict?
  • Do we treat each other as peers?
  • Are we living the values in our working relationship?
  • Have we used a facilitator for our Peer Catch-ups to get better outcomes on the above questions? There is always scope for better outcomes.
