In this release, we finished the updating of our objective and action features. We welcome your feedback on the updates!
Thank you to everyone who requested enhancements or reported bugs.
Major Enhancements
Objectives
Objectives have undergone a big change in functionality and features. The details for each new feature is below.
All objectives are now numbered. Annual objectives across your organisation have the “AO” prefix, and quarterly objectives across your organisation have the “QO” prefix. The number is automatic. We hope this will give you an additional way to refer to an objective in your discussions - improving the clarity of your discussions and removing the need to quote the entire objective title when referring to it.
We've added an objective overview page, which gives you an at-a-glance picture of your organisation. It gives you a picture of the overall progress of your objectives (and the relevant status). In addition, we're providing some simple analysis of your objectives - which should help greatly when reviewing the progress of objectives within your organisation.
In addition to the existing list and tree views, we've added a grid view. The grid view gives you additional power over how you're objectives are displayed, filtered & grouped. The grid view also allows you to export your objectives to Excel.
The objective detail page has also been redesigned based on feedback from a number of users.
- Key results have been moved to the main section
- Updates to these key results are now available via a dropdown
- Added a button to update the key result value
- Key results can now be reordered
- Status moved to the right side
- Each section (key results, description, activity) is now collapsible
- The activity section can now be filtered by key result updates, comments, or both
We added an objective review. When an objective is closed, it is best practice to reflect on the objective as a team, and record any learnings from the objective. When the objective is due soon, or overdue, then the objective will prompt you to fill out a review.
To assist you in creating great objectives, we have previously had a document that walks you through the process of creating an objective by asking a series of questions. These questions are now part of the platform, and should remove the need for you and your team to refer to this document. You can choose whether to use the new wizard or the existing dialog.
Many organisations' leadership teams conduct offsites, and need to be able to mark objectives as complete - but not close them as there is still a communication piece to happen. Previously, people would generally add a ‘Complete’ label to the objective. Now we've added a new status to the objective.
OKRs can be a difficult concept to grasp, and there are many conflicting ways of doing them. At adapt, we have distilled these concepts and learnings into something that we think works well for SMEs. This is available on the help menu inside the platform (when on an objective page).
Strategic Dashboard
We've added a new page where you can explore your organisation's strategy from a single page. In the organisation tab, there is a new item ‘Strategic Dashboard’. This is a single page that contains the current organisation objectives, strategic goals, strategic anchors, vision, bullseye, purpose & values.
Actions
We've added a feature to the action board where you can group the items by various criteria - assignee, label, or board. When there are many actions, this can help group related actions into logical groups. It can also help to group items when reviewing items within your team.
You can now add links to multiple actions at once. From the link action dialog, click on the desired actions.
When searching for actions, the results are shown in a grid view. You can now apply additional filtering as well as being able to sort, show/hide columns, and export the results to Excel.
For those of who may use the platform in situations where the disclosure of certain actions is not desired (i.e. items on private boards), you can now elect to ‘blur’ the contents of an action on your personal dashboard only. This is handy for someone like a navigation team member or cultural team member, where sensitive topics may be on their action board - if they are showing the platform to someone whilst logging in, this prevents these types of items from being visible. The default setting is configurable to meet your individual needs.
The presentation of the action cards and links has changed. We've made this change to keep actions and objectives consistent throughout the platform.
Minor Enhancements
- We've added each of the Team Assessment category scores in addition to the overall score to the data returned from the developer API - they will now also see the score for ‘Trust and psychological safety’, ‘Alignment of purpose and values’, ‘Effective stewardship’, ‘Clarity of roles’, ‘Meaningful progress’, and ‘High levels of accountability’
- Adding a new agenda item, the platform will now scroll the agenda to this new item
- When copying a system, the layout of the system will now also be copied
- You can now click on the entire area of a rich text area to activate it (previously, only clicking on the text would activate it)
- You can now quickly add a supporting objective via the ‘…’ menu to the right of the objective card
- We've improved the performance of the objectives area to reduce the amount of traffic transmitted from our server
- The owner of an action or objective will now be shown in the link (as a thumbnail image)
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a rounding error when comparing Team Assessment scores in the platform versus the developer API
- Loom videos weren't always working when adding them from inside a system
