Step 1:
Review your vision as a team.
💡 You can print this onto a large page (A3) and place it on the wall. Alternatively, use a digital whiteboard (Canva, Miro). Here is a Miro template for this exercise
It can be a good idea for the owner to read it aloud.
Step 2:
Have each person work independently and start to identify themes that are coming from your vision. You want everyone to consider what it means for the various parts of the business.
Each person should identify about 3-4 themes and write them down on a sticky note (1 idea per note). Allow 10 to 15 minutes for this step.
Using the 4-zone framework, put your ideas in the relevant zones.
If you're having trouble identifying themes, refer to the example in the meeting pre-work.
Step 3:
Come back together as a group, and have each person place their themes onto the 4 zone framework, and talk to their theme.
Step 4:
Group the like ideas. Then vote and agree on the final themes.
Have a robust discussion on your themes, and make sure you all understand clearly what they are and why they are there.
Once you're all aligned, record your strategic themes below.
