A key result is a metric associated with an objective. Ideally, key results measure outcomes, NOT actions.
Value-based key results measure the delivery of value and the outcome of successful activities. Some examples might be:
- The aggregate of our CVT (Career valuation tool) scores has increased from 58% to over 70%
- Our team’s trust and psychological safety score has gone from red to green
- Our NPS (Net promoter score) has increased from 6 to >8
Task-based key results measure the completion of tasks and activities or the delivery of a project milestone. They contain verbs like, create, define, implement, launch, develop, deliver, prepare, or plan. Some examples might be:
- All our team leaders have completed safety assessments
- Defined our employee valuation programme
- Created a new training program
